Oreo cookie pops

January 24, 2012

Oreo cookie pops are just like cake pops only easier and taste better.

I learned this recipe on Bakerella’s site. She’s the master of cake pops.

Ingredients: Package of Oreo cookies (Regular) filling included

1 package of Philadelphia cream cheese softened.

lollipop sticks (I used 6″ for this example)

melting candy coating chocolate.

sprinkles

First crush your package of oreos. I use a zip lock bag and a rolling pin. A food processor would be quicker :)

Stir in a softened package of cream cheese until it is all combined.

Roll mixture in small balls and place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

Chill in frig until balls are firm.

Dip ends of sticks in melted chocolate and press into balls. Chill again. These steps might not be necessary….

I did them because I heard they help with the process.

Melt the chocolate on lowest temp and dip pops. I rubbed off the excess on the side of the pan.

Next I sprinkled these little guys all over the pops while the chocolate was still wet. I just put some in a bowl and spooned them over the pops while turning to coat..

They are so easy and fun to make…. best of all…you don’t have to bake a cake.

They are great to make for little favors….. I’m going to make them for the shower.

Oh my goodness it’s baby shower time!!

I’ve enjoyed having baby showers and helping others with baby showers over the years.

This time it’s personal…..

A friend recently brought to my attention that the baby shower

I’m currently working on, will be the only shower I ever do for my own grandbabies….

I have one  child(son) and you traditionally only do showers for the first baby.

So if I’m missing in action and blogging less in the next month you know why:)

Did I tell you the theme for the shower? ” Sock Monkey’s”

The craft club is going to be making sock monkey’s.

I’ll be posting info on that soon.

Bathroom Overhaul Part 1

January 19, 2012

I’ve been so busy lately….. I don’t know where the time goes.

Some really good news is that our upstairs bathroom is getting a much needed overhaul!!

In a strange way….I enjoy the sound of sawing and pounding…it means something is getting done!

Here’s a look at the changes that are taking place.

Horizontal boards are being added over top of the old wall paper. When we first moved in

we removed a ton of wall paper. It was never primed underneath so it was a bear to get off.

Instead of trying to get this “stuck like glue” paper off….. we’re going right over top of it.

Here’s a little look at the before.

Some progress…..

To be continued…..

Hot cocoa on a stick

January 12, 2012

I love the idea of hot cocoa on a stick. Just stir into warm milk and you have

a perfect cup of hot chocolate!!

It is freezing cold here!! I guess winter has come at last…… no snow….

just blowing winds that make it feel like it’s Zero degrees!!

I heard snow is on its way. Maybe all the kids will be blessed with a snow day…

Nothing is more exciting then to see your school name scrolling across that cancellation list!!

Sweet memories!!

Thanks King Arthur Flour!! I want to make these for sure!!

Here is another really cute one!!!

Love these little labels!! What a cute idea for all kinds of occasions.

I’m thinking about making these and filling them with Cinnamon butter for Valentine’s Day.

Check out the recipe and printable label at Maize Hutton.

What do you get when you buy 2 – $29.00 Ikea Ectorp chair Slipcovers and whatever

random slipcover parts you can find that match in the sale bins at Ikea??

…..PLUS, a SWEET helpful friend with AMAZING sewing skills?

You get (2) new chair slipcovers that are deconstructed and hacked

to fit your own pair of personal chairs.

Grand total: $65.00.

Here’s the original.

EKTORP Chair cover, Blekinge white

Here’s a horrible drawing to help you get a better idea of what took place.

Reasons why I decided to go this route- and a few you might consider.

1. The fabric.  The Ektorp fabric is exactly what I wanted and it only cost $29.00

+ two other slip parts from the sale bin to do 1 chair.

2.  BIG money savings.

3.  The cording was all cut and sewn.

4. Amazingly…the majority of the body and length fit my chair. Even if it doesn’t…if you can sew

or you have friends that sews, you can deconstruct and  save money…  “MAKE IT WORK.”

My friend, the one who helped me… is deconstructing (even as I write) an ektorp

slipcover to fit a loveseat she owns. Can’t wait to see it completed!!

Photos of the process:

…..

Finished Product

I still need to steam andf press the covers

These chairs are so comfy!!! Plus, there is an added bonus…. they swivel, rock and glide!!!

Perfect for when I’ll be holding and rocking you know who????  :) :)

My sweet little Grandbaby!!!

Peppermint trays and heart shaped cut outs from melted mint candies

I’ve been eyeing the beautiful peppermint trays I saw on Pinterest made by Tutto Bella and decided to give them a try…. Warning… They aren’t as easy as they look. I think it all comes down to the candy manufacture and the proper oven temp… but I’m still trying to perfect the process.  Here’s what [...]
