DIY Fabric Portrait : Purl Bee

July 21, 2010

First off…. I’m sending a double HOOT  out to my sweet follower friend Emma….who I Love!!! Hope you had fun at HL!!

When I see something I love I just can’t help but share it…. I just think these little swatch Portraits from Purl Bee are the cutest things!! Purl Bee is so kind to let me feature them…

The Perl Patchwork fabric shop in Soho was looking for a creative way to share some of their favorite products. So they put their heads together and decided  to make swatch portraits using embroidery hoops…… that is where this family portrait style wall of Liberty of London fabrics came to be. Their idea is so simple and yet so charming!!

To make the swatch portraits you simply gather together your collection of different sized wooden hoops and  pieces of fabric. Your fabric needs to be 2″ wider than your hoop in all directions…..They used Liberty of LondonTana Lawn fabrics for this project. After the fabric is stretched they applied Elmer’s or fabric glue to keep it in place.  Click here for all the details.Thank you Perl Bee, Love the looks of your new shop!

Aren’t those swatch portraits pretty! And it takes several of them to give the impact, doesn’t it! Very nice. :-)

Thank you for visiting Cranberry Morning! About the tornadoes, I laughed when I read of your husband’s new respect for tornadoes and that he attributed it to being older and wiser. That sounds just like my husband! lol

I am saving fabrics and vintage scarves for this very reason! It will take me awhile yet to hang anything though. :)

Collecting plates too.
