Do you think I made a mistake?

May 19, 2011

Do you remember when I wanted to do a temporary fix up to the black edge of the counter? You all shared some really

helpful ideas. Well…I went with the quickest and least expensive option and that is to paint.  Here are the before and

afters. At first I was worried I made a big mistake, now I’m use to it and actually like it. What do you think?

 AFTERS:

This doesn’t have anything to do with the counters, but I was excited to find that these skirted IKEA slipcovers

fit our parsons chairs!!!

BEFORE:

Snagged a photo from when I was wallpapering the backsplash…. you can see the black edge. The gray edge helps it feel less busy in the kitchen…

First I sanded the edges and primed it with Krylor  primer/sealer and then I painted it with

                                                                                  an acrylic laytex paint.

We’ll see how it holds up. I hope it lasts until we get a different counter.

It looks fabulous! From the pictures I can’t even tell that it was painted or is different than the countertops – much better than the old black.

It looks great! I didn’t realized it wasn’t part of the counter until I saw the before photo.

When I saw your post on the reading list in my blogger dashboard I thought hmmmm I wonder how well that will hold up but it sounds like you had a good process and it looks amazing!

Thank you all! So far so good… I was lucky with the color match. I just wished I had used a satin or semigloss instead of an eggshell finish.
