Velvet Cone Christmas trees

December 9, 2011

I’ve been up to my elbows in cone shaped Christmas trees and having a blast!!!!

Here’s a little sample of the velvet trees the craft clubbers have been making…..

velvet cone shaped tree

They are so easy, inexpensive…. and take very few supplies.

Supplies needed for 3 cones:

3 pieces of poster board

1 yard of fabric-cut in 4 inch wide strips (make the strips as long as possible)

glue gun and glue sticks

packing tape

For great info on how to cut your poster boards..please check out this tutorial.

Here are the 3 size cones we made…

After you make your forms, begin applying your fabric pieces. Hotglue them as you go along.

When you come to the end of your fabric like I show in the photo below….

Then just place another piece on top of the existing piece.

More examples: A Real DEAL …You can actually make 3 trees.. like the ones above…

for under 4 dollars if you buy the crushed velvet on sale at JoAnn fabric.

I’ve been following you for about a year now (maybe more). I absolutely love some of your stuff and these cones are the best yet! So inexpensive, but so chic! They will absolutely look wonderful as a “mantle-scape”. I love things that LOOK EXPENSIVE! and these definately do…… I might become a crafter yet! Keep up the good work. And I just thought of something else, they will store very well too, inside one another!
