Welcome!
My name is Rene’ and I’m the host behind each post. . That’s me in the photo with my lovely family!!
(Plus, we have a newly added addition.)
My husband and I are officially “empty nesters”, but we stay busy….that’s where Bargain Hoot comes in for me. It’s my little hobby and I’m enjoying every bit of it!! I especially love the friendship and support from my dear readers!!.
I originally started BH to track and share bits of my creative thrifty side. So if you love bargains, DIY decor, recipes, crafting, and doing cute weddings/events for less, please make yourself comfortable and have a look around!!! I hope you find something that inspires you and saves you money!!

Thankfully praising God for each new day,

I just wanted to drop you a line and say that I really enjoy your blog! (My four year old son loves your graphics, as he is crazy about owls! I know. A very odd thing for a four year old to be crazy about…) Anyhow, I have recently started my own blog/website, and I have just added a page for some of my favorite links. I have included your blog and that page! I probably should have asked first, but my husband says everyone appreciates a little free advertising! Anyhow, if you would rather not have a link on my page, please just let me know and I will take it down!
Also, I am praying that the Great Physician will heal your father-in-law as He sees fit, and that the Prince of Peace will bring comfort to you and your family during this time. Blessings to you!–Holly
Thank you for stopping by Kaufman’s Cottage! I look forward to getting to know you better!

Just started blogging and found you and your great ideas. Thanx for sharing. billi
Do you sell Pottery Barn Fabrics at a discounted price? I am interested in Brushed Canvas Sage, selling by PB at $25 a yard.

Sorry I don’t sell PB fabric….
Depending on what you are using it for you can sometimes buy duvet covers and curtains at the outlet and use them for fabric…
Also try ebay….. Another great source are painters drop cloths and JoAnn Fabrics..
Hope that helps

Hi, I am in my 40′s too
I see a lovely kitchen table but can’t seem to get that picture pulled up. (It has a cream bowl and two little trees on each side). I am looking for a new kitchen table and enjoyed the decorating of your home!
Hi Bargain Hoot!
I found you while searching for a birch bark download! And I am so glad I did. I can’t believe that I’ve never been here before, I must be a very bad blogger. Come over and visit me at bles-id. {That’s blessed, like blessed be the name of the Lord!} I’ve signed on to follow and I know I will be back many, many times! But for now, thanks for the birch bark! Hee hee! Happy New Year, Jules

Here’s a twist on your Cake in a Cup recipe I just discovered last night. this recipe consists of 2 cake mixes. Empty a box of any flavor cake mix into a gallon ziplock bag, then pour in the dry ingredients of a box of angel food cake mix into the same bag. Mix the two cake mixes well together. Now follow the 3 – 2 – 1 Steps and you’ll have a snazzy dessert. Take 3 heaping tablespoons of dry cake mix and plop it into a cup. Take 2 tablespoons of water and pour it into the cup and mix thoroughly so there is no clumpy mix in the cup. Step 1 – place cup in the microwave for 1 minute (60) seconds and Voile! You have a wonderful risen cake in a cup that you can now decorate any way you desire. It’s really cool! Try it! And the really neat part is this – when you are just a couple still at home and want a small dessert from time to time, all you have to do is drag the bag out of the freezer and scoop up some cake mix into your cups and again, you have dessert! Company comes over – what to feed them? – ahha! Dig out the bag of cake mix with some still left and fill up the cups and get it made. Always on hand! Enjoy
