I’m hoping to do a Do it Yourself Wedding/Events every other Wednesday. Let me know about your event and how you saved, you just might be featured (I’m looking for creative and unique ideas) !!!
I can’t wait to share this next couples wedding with you! They are both talented artists, so it’s easy to see why every part of their wedding is infused with artistic style.
Their ceremony took place at Paramount Ranch, an old western movie filming location situated at a California state park. Not only is their location a perfect backdrop for their casual country wedding, but because it was held at a state park, the only fee was the cost of the permit!!!
Their ceremony was held in an open meadow under a large, oak tree. The beautiful bamboo arch they were married under was hand crafted by them and inspired to look like the l’occtaine en provance bag.
All their wedding invites and programs were also designed by them and have that perfect country western touch.I love the rustic idea of using a twig to hold the programs together!
Hilary had a casual approach with her bridesmaids and let them pick their own dress and shoes in a warm golden yellow palette. The girls picked dresses from Down East Basics, J.Crew, Newport News, Macy’s, and vintage Fred Segel. The grooms were given a similar option… to pick out any grey pant/vest combo they wanted and wear it with a white collared shirt and Vans. The brides vintage inspired wedding dress was bought on ebay for a shocking $45. Every boutonniere and corsage was sewn over the course of a year by the bride. They were each made of vintage fabrics, felt and feathers and no two were alike.
Old double wedding ring quilts, existing picnic tables, hand made rustic looking raw muslin table cloths, and blue and green mason jars filled with DIY flower arrangements filled their rustic pavilion with the perfect touches.
They didn’t stop there, the thumbprint guest tree above is their own creation as well. If you are loving it as much as I am, and are interested in a family tree or a wedding guest tree, please click here to be directed to their etsy store Bleu de toi. They can personalize one just for you!!
The wooden rounds on the cake table were made by the brides father, who had removed a tree for a neighbor the month before the wedding and he made the slices from the trunk on a large industrial band saw (a saw large enough to cut 12″ would work). Then he sanded them smooth and cured the cut surface with some sort of wax (fresh cut wood will crack when it dries). They had them at variant heights for the cup cakes but they also had a collection of milk glass, jadeite and other vintage cake stands for variety. The wooden rounds created such a perfect touch!
I hope you enjoyed reading about this festive event!! Thank you so much Hilary and Joshua for sharing your special wedding celebration!!! It was a beautiful day, filled with so many cost saving ideas, without once sacrificing on your unique and creative style!

I love the simpleness of it. It looks like it was a very lovely wedding. I like how the bridesmaids dress were all different and they could wear them again! I’m new to your blog by the way, I”ll be back to visit!

I love this Rene. Awhile back, I did a post on what I would have had if I were to have a barn wedding. I love different weddings and I love casual. Her dress is so pretty, not the norm off the shoulder poufy. Love this.
