I was kind of excited to do a post on reclaimed wood because it’s something I’ve really been noticing a lot of these days. It brings such a beautiful rustic element to decor. I love it used for furniture and construction. I was trying to figure out how to incorporate a little of that rustic feel into our home….but on the cheap. One thought is with beams in our family room the other thought is with furniture or decorative pieces. I’m thinking the furniture and decorative pieces are going to be the least expensive route.
In the Pottery Barn picture that follows you see just an old reclaimed wooden board used in a decorative way up on the wall. Who would think just adding that piece of wood to the wall would look so amazing! Well, leave it to PB! Now the single board approach is probably what this blog is all about, especially since I’m searching for ways to do things for less …..in a hoot and holler kind of way. But, I want to examine the options in this post and figure out a decision later 🙂 So I’m going to share some inspiration photos and a company I contacted about reclaimed wood / barn siding/ and beams…either rough cut or hand hewn.
Here is an example of wrapping a bathroom mirror in reclaimed wood…I’m liking that idea for our little half bath mirror. I wonder if Mr. BH would.
Tracery: Love the rustic Scandinavian/ Belgium linen look with the muted tones and all the white with the v-groove and timber frame construction. Tracery did such an amazing job with the interior of this home… it is just awesome!

When I did a little search for barn siding and reclaimed wood I came across a fun site called Elmwood reclaimed timber .com. They have all different kinds of wood and they ship all over the US. I called them and asked some questions about their products and services and they were so friendly and helpful!! Here are some pictures from their site.

Wonderful photographs. The reclaimed wood and faux wood beams look so good in those applications.
