Housebeautiful ?The first time I spotted one of these hanging chair lovelies was when I was in 6th grade and my best friend’s older sister had one hanging in her room. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The lucky girl even had a hanging round TV!!
I was excited when I ended up getting a hanging rattan/wicker chair as a graduation present from high school. I don’t have pictures or I would show it to you. It was white and awesome!
I remember my Grandpa was so sweet to hang it for me….which was no easy task. He cut a hole in my ceiling and wrapped the chain around a rafter and bolted it somehow.
I don’t actually remember what became of the beauty…I think it sold with the house.
Anyway, they are back in, like most vintage things 🙂 The older “vintage” ones are a little harder to find.
I did a little digging to find the least expensive new hanging chair option and found IKEA to be
the best bet at $69.50. That is a good deal since I remember mine being over $100 years ago.
In case you are interested….I just located a vintage one on Ebay….someone should snag this baby for for $135.. I’m tempted,
but don’t have a place for it….I’d probably end up painting it 🙂
I love those! I want one for our covered deck….I’d be a little nervous about it falling down though.
