If I had to pick a favorite piece of furniture in our home, it
would hands down be our kitchen table. It isn’t because it
cost $25 at a yard sale 20 years ago.
It’s simply because it is beautiful, functional and my mom
put tons love into it.
She stripped the whole thing down and opted not to put a stain and varnish over it to “protect it.”
The natural state looked so awesome, she simply rubbed oil on it. This is probably one of the few things we
chose not to paint over the years and I’m so glad we didn’t! It’s crazy when I think about how maintenance free
it is and how zero worries I’ve had about it over the years. It’s been crafted on, glued, painted,
potted, playdoughed, cut on etc.
It can be dressed up or down…. So that’s my favorite yard sale find.
When I saw that the Nester was having a link up party for favorite yard sale finds…I knew I had to
join in and share my fav! Do you have a favorite? Why not join in too… there is still time.

Hi Rene,
It’s been way too long since we’ve chatted. I miss putting our heads together and conjuring up new ideas:) I have started a new blog so please come by sometime.

Your table is so pretty! I love the look of natural wood. I just sanded a table that I got free from Craigslist and was wondering what kind of oil your mom rubbed on it.

I’ll ask her what type of oil….
