This video from Good Morning America shows an ATM Skimmer caught in the act.
Here’s another video that gives advice on how to avoid getting scammed
by the skimming device, and a quick and easy way to protect your pin number.
I wish we had watched this video and knew how to best protect our info.
This past week someone skimmed our ATM and used $1,600 out of our account.
We will hopefully get it back, but they said it could take up to 45 days.

I’m so sorry that happened to you, I had no idea that could happen. Last year my husband’s card was compromised while he was in Iraq somehow but we caught it fairly quickly thank goodness. I hope you get your money back quickly. Thanks for the warning.

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for your comment. I’m glad you guys caught yours right away.
The credit card company contacted us to let us know about the suspicion of fraudulent activity and that they put a freeze on our atm card. Thank goodness or it might have been a lot worse.
I guess the people that get the atm or credit card info sell it right away. That must be why we had withdrawals in Canada and Iowa. They took out approx $300 each time they did a withdraw over a 24 hr. period. They must know that they have a small window of time before they freeze the acct.

That’s horrible, Rene’! You hear of these things, but don’t ever think you or someone you know will actually deal with it. Thanks for the info- so glad your bank caught it fairly quickly!

Thanks BT…it’s crazy that it happened! My uncle and cousin had it happen a few weeks ago and they live in another state. I couldn’t believe it happened to them and then now we’re looking at the same situation.
