Hobby Lobby 90% off= paint party!!

July 17, 2010

So you’ve probably heard that Hobby Lobby has an isle full of items marked at 90% off.

Well, yesterday I went there and bought a cart full of things.. I couldn’t help myself…everything I bought was betweem $1.99 and 3.99….  So what do you do when it’s 90 degrees out and you don’t have a pool…you celebrate in the shade with a paint fest…. (my mom and I had fun)

First I had to gather up the supplies…

the Hobby Lobby sale items …

We had some fun!!! Now get to Hobby Lobby if you haven’t….jk…only if you want to :) and paint something unless the item works in your home as is…that’s even better :)   Some of the items will be gifted and others will find a new home soon….I’ll show you when they get there.

Now you’re making me feel jealous *and* lazy! Wish we had a Hobby Lobby here and I wish I’d been that productive today. I especially love the leaf platters. I think they look much better with your paint job.

I ran into HL yesterday to pick up some ribbon (to finish a project) and saw the 90% off sign…I now have a whole trunk full of goodies! I love the blue paint you used…what color is it? Thanks for all the inspiration, I love your blog!

Hi. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Great blog you have! I love a bargain! I am amazed at how beautiful you made the items you purchased…not sure I could have made them look anything like that:)

Oh my gosh,
What a fabulous post!!! I LOVE what you did with everything…it looks fantastic!
Hobby Lobby is my “home away from home.” My husband says we should just
buy a 5th wheel and keep it in their parking lot! (I thought you’d love that one!)

Thank you so much for visiting I Owe it All to Him….Have a blessed Sunday.
Hugs,
Cindy

Did you sand the items or use a primer first?

It looks lovely!

Oh wow! ALL of those things turned out so well! Nothing a fresh coat of paint can’t fix, right? ;-)

lol..No to sanding and priming, infact I didn’t even change into paint clothes…. Infact I had my heels and church clothes on :) lol
That was my husband answering for me. Guess what, he knows me so well…he was right all except for the church clothes part (I painted on a Saturday afternoon with my mom Ha!) I have to admit, I get in a hurry and don’t always prepare like I should.

Erin, the color is Aqua from Rust-oleum American Accents. Sounds like you scored big time!! Thanks for your sweet comments!

These are awesome! I had no idea you could do that with spray paint. I would have thought you had to prime, sand etc and that is why I never did it. Spray paint rocks! My husband is getting really scared now, I have been walking around the house picking up pieces wondering what colour I should paint it.

13 bargain hoot July 19, 2010 at 6:34 am

sanding and priming are probably the best way to do it, but I figure these are just decorative pieces so they aren’t going to go through a lot, they just sit and look pretty. :) Thank you for you comments :)

Oooh, good redo! You totally changed the vibe on these items and upscaled them in my opinion. Loving the white and the blue you used, so fresh and cool. Hmmm, no Hobby Lobby nearby. Perhaps I can persuade the stores we do have that they should have a 90% off aisle to insure customer satisfaction? ;0)

They look great! I actually looked at several of the same pieces and wondered how they would look painted. I may have to go back now and see if they still have them.

Thank you!!! I went to Hobby Lobby and spent about $20 on some candlesticks and bits and bobs. I can’t wait to paint them! I’m sure I will do a blog post on it soon! Thanks again for the inspiration. :)

Well it looks like I am heading to HL tomorrow to hope you crafty people have left some behind for people like me who did not know this was going on.

Love how you refreshed everything. Love the sage or green on those leaves.

Visiting by way of Get your craft on Tuesday.
